“Maintenance of HVAC system: dirt and neglect are the top causes of heating and cooling system inefficiency and failure. It’s important to change your system’s air filter regularly and have routine maintenance performed by a qualified technician.” -greenerevanston.org
Your heating and cooling system is the most important component ensuring you are comfortable in your home. At SOS Heating & Cooling we have been servicing heating and cooling systems since 1950. The main reason for the longevity is that we take care of you, the customer.
Our technicians are not paid commissions for changing out parts. This results in fair treatment to our customers. If the problem can be fixed in an hour that is all you are charged for. During each visit we do a full inspection of the entire system, alerting you of any future repair issues.
Unlike many of our competitors, we do not charge a diagnostic fee for service call and come to your home with the intent to repair. We charge $95/hr plus parts for residential customers and $110/hr plus parts for commercial. There is a one hour minimum, but there’s no trip fee charge. It’s our belief this pricing policy is the most fair to our customers. The majority of repairs are minor and only result in an hour labor charge plus a minimal part charge. Our average service call is around $100. For new customers we offer $20 off, check out our “Specials” page for coupons.
MAINTENANCE PLANS

One of the last things on your mind is your heating and cooling system, until it stops working. This always seems to happen at the worst possible time. Probably on the hottest day of the year, when every service company in town is busy. Heating and cooling failure makes for a very stressful and unhappy home. For a business, failure results in dissatisfied customers, uncomfortable employees, and ultimately lost profits for your organization. That’s why it makes sense to enroll in a maintenance program. This is the best deal we offer, here are the reasons why:
• As a POM customer your equipment will be serviced on a bi-annual basis.
• Each visit we will make sure your filter is clean. All controls are checked, cleaned, and lubricated as needed.
• Receive a 10% discount on any additional parts needed during each visit.
• Priority status on any service call you may have between checks. This means you will be put before any non-contract holding customers.
• Additionally, you will receive a labor discount.
• Guaranteed 24 hour emergency service with us.
• Get a 5% discount on any future equipment purchases.
Is your system MORE than 10 years old?
We recommend our standard Peace of Mind (POM) contract where you will receive 2 maintenance checks per contract term. The AC will be done in the spring when the temperatures are warm enough, and the furnace will be done in the fall, September or later. Click below for more details.
Is your system LESS than 10 years old?
We recommend our Peace of Mind 3 (POM3) contract! You will receive 3 maintenance checks per contract term (for the same price as 2!). The AC will be done in the summer, July or later. The furnace will be done in the winter, January or later. Click below for more details.

We returned from a weekend trip to find that neither our heat pump nor our furnace were working. After a cold night, we called SOS first thing in the morning. A tech was out by 1 p.m. and promptly diagnosed and fixed the issues for a very fair price. He was courteous and explained everything.

The tech was polite, professional, and fast. Because it was fast, it was reasonable. Thats been our experience for 25 years. Glad it continues.

When our HVAC unit finally quit working last year, we reached out to a number of companies to quote us for the installation of a completely new HVAC system. SOS came out on top with not only a great price but outstanding customer service as well. They did a great job of offering a number of different packages that fit our needs.

Heat was out at our office this morning. They showed up within an hour and got it up and running. Jodi was our Tech – nice guy. Showed me how to fix it myself if it does it again. Thanks Jodi

This is a review of SOS Heating and Cooling, but first let’s start with this. About three years ago while living in AZ I had my HVAC replaced with a YORK brand. After the install had been completed everything worked but I wasn’t satisfied with the quality of their work. They agreed with some of my concerns and returned twice…still not great but again it all worked. A year later the house next door also had the HVAC system replaced and used the same YORK product but this time had a different installation crew. I looked at this installation and although some things were better others were not. At this point and with two examples I concluded that this was simply the ‘industry standard’ for HVAC installations and let it go. Now living in Omaha I wanted to have my outdated HVAC system replaced. Having been pleased with the YORK brand I proceeded with it but had low expectations for how the installation would go. Here I could list many of the items that I felt were poorly done in AZ but that would take a lot more lines of text to simply say, SOS didn’t repeat any of the concerns that I had in AZ. Using words like great workmanship, exceeding quality, meeting expectation’s and customer satisfaction I realize can be considered personal taste and subjective but I can say this; I would not hesitate to recommend this company or to use them again if needed. Lastly, unlike AZ there was a requirement to have the equipment safety inspected by the utility company and this was done today, as expected; passed inspection.
