SOS Heating and Cooling over the years

Our Experience Shows

The average experience level for our 40 plus employees is 13 years. The majority of our new business comes from referrals. We are fully licensed, insured, bonded, and members of both the Better Business Bureau and the Heating and Air Conditioning Contractors of America.
LeRoy Stuehm-Founder
The company was founded in 1950 by Harry Schneiderwind. It started as a two man shop with Harry and LeRoy Stuehm. LeRoy then served in the Army from 1952-1954, afterwards he went to trade school where he studied HVAC. LeRoy really enjoyed the service side of the HVAC business because every call was a new challenge. In fact, when LeRoy began his career in heating and cooling he was working 60 hours a week on average and was on call 24/7.
In 1971 the company was purchased outright by LeRoy, at the time it had three full time employees. LeRoy began running the company as Schneiderwind Heating and Cooling with "SOS Service" labeled on the truck. He chose the name SOS because it stood for 'Schneiderwind or Stuehm'. In 1973 the company became SOS Heating and Cooling and Electrical Inc. In September of 2005 the company moved into a new 10,000 square foot building behind the original shop. SOS currently has 40 full time employees and is managed by his grandson Jon.
Jon Stuehm -President
Jon grew up in the company, working summers through high school. He attended Dana College and graduated with a degree in Business Management and Marketing in 2004. Jon received his LEED Green Associate certification for green building practices in 2013. Jon achieved an MBA from UNO in 2014. Jon does the majority of residential sales for the company and has received factory training from York, Luxaire, Amana and Goodman. In the fall you will find him on the football sidelines at Ralston High School were he is the defensive coordinator for the varsity squad. As the third generation, Jon's goal is the lead SOS into the 100th year in business.
Greg Clark -Vice President
Terry Gambrel - Commercial Sales Manager
Terry has been at SOS for over 30 years. He joined the crew when there were only three people in the SOS office taking care of business operations. Terry has had numerous roles at the company and is currently working in commercial sales. He has had factory training and a great deal of on-the-job training throughout his career in the heating and cooling business. He also has quite a few HVAC seminars under his belt. From bids to blue-prints, Terry plays a big role in the office at SOS.
Rick Mills -Service Manager
After graduating from the old Universal Technical Institute in 1970, Rick worked in construction until 1975. He went to work for Leroy (founder) here at SOS on Jan. 2, 1977 and has been doing primarily service work ever since. Rick is a member of RSES and IGSPA. He received his Master Mechanical License in 1993. Rick has been the service manager at SOS since 1995. I've always appreciated the integrity of SOS; that we strive to make every customer feel important, and that we do the job right.
